Our Mission

About Us

In 1968 the Westberg family moved to Cushing to start a United Pentecostal Church. From a rented office building on Main Street with a congregation of four, the church has grown and progressed to the present building at 1428 East Oak and is now under the leadership of Rev. and Mrs. Phillip Vinson. The outreach ministries of the church touch the community in many areas, offering hope to people of all ages.

What We Believe

The Bible is the inspired infallible Word of God. (II Tim. 3:15-17)

There is one God, who has revealed himself as Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Spirit in regeneration. This one God has one body. In Jesus Christ dwells the fullness of the godhead bodily. (Deut. 6:4; Eph. 4:4-6; Col. 2:9; I Tim. 3:16)

All have sinned and need salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith. (Rom. 3:23; Eph. 2:8) Faith is the first step toward salvation. (Heb. 11:6) Believing moves one to action. (Mark 16:16; John 7:38)

As Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again, we obey the plan of salvation by repenting (dying to sin), being baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost (resurrection). This is the new birth. (I Cor. 15:1-4; John 3:3-8; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Rom. 6:3-4)

We should live a holy life, inwardly and outwardly. (Rom. 12:1; II Cor. 7:1)

The gifts of the Spirit are for the church today. (Mark 16:17-18; I Cor. 12:8-10)

Jesus is coming again to catch away His church. After death comes the judgment. (I Thess. 4:16-17; II Cor. 5:10; Rev. 20:11-15)

How We Worship

We pray together out loud because in the Bible we read, "They lifted up their voices to God with one accord" (Acts 4:24).

We lift our hands in praise because in the Bible we read, "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord" (Psalm 134:2).

We sing with all our hearts because in the Bible we read, "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise and rejoice and sing praise" (Psalm 98:4).

We play musical instruments because in the Bible we read, "And all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments" (II Samuel 6:5).

We clap and shout unto God because in the Bible we read, "O clap your hands all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph" (Psalm 47:1).

We praise him in a dance because in the Bible we read, "Praise him with the timbrel and dance; praise him with stringed instruments and organs" (Psalm 150:4).
